Reconstructive challenges in dorsal nasal defects

Yawar Nissar, Umar Farooq Baba, Adil Hafeez Wani.

Abstract
Introduction: Several reconstruction techniques have been listed for dorsal nasal defects, ranging from simple suturing to free tissue transfer. Dorsal nasal defects are challenging because they are the most noticeable structure on the face and can be accompanied by a structural component and lining in addition to the cover. It is important to follow the dimensions, terrain and causes of the defect. The principle of aesthetic nasal subunits is very important in the aesthetic and functional reconstruction of a nasal defect.
Material and methods: We present a series of four dorsal nasal defects with different aetiologies, type, width and thickness and different reconstructive procedures performed.
Results and conclusion: In dorsal nasal defects, the grafts can offer very good results. The forehead flap can be used with good results for lining as well as a cover dorsal nasal defects

Key words: dorsal nasal defects, forehead flap, full-thickness skin graft, glabellar flap, complete nasal reconstruction, free radial forearm flap
