The Chinese Centre for Disease Control and Prevention pinpointed the cause as a new strain of β-Coronavirus. Coronaviruses derived its name from its crown-like representation due to the spike-like projections on its surface. Coronavirus Study Group of the International Committee coins the name of the new virus as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 whereas the World Health Organization named the disease as Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID -19). It was on 11 March 2020, that the WHO has declared COVID-19 as a global pandemic. In this article, we will focus mainly on abdominal pain in COVID-19 patients. The incidence of abdominal pain in COVID-19 patients is between 0.3% - 25%. There is, as of now, no approved treatment for COVID-19 and it is basically supportive and symptomatic.
