Abstract
Breast cancer was a type of malignancy that occurred in human breast organs in both ductal and lobule tissues. In Indonesia, more than 80% of the cases were found in an advanced stage, as prognosis became worse and therapy effectiveness was less. It was estimated, as many as 40% of Breast cancer patients died of metastatic factors. Therefore, examination of prognostic biomarkers of metastasis in breast cancer was critical. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the expression of E-cadherin and Her-2 /Neu with the incidence of distant metastases in breast cancer. This study was conducted using analytical observation method with cross-sectional study in 46 breast cancer patients who were both metastatic and not metastatic breast cancer patients at Dr. Wahidin Sudirohusodo Hospital Makassar. Research results showed that there was no significant relationship between tumor grading and incidence of metastasis (p> 0.05), but it was seen that the percentage of subjects with M1 was found to be higher at a moderate grade (69.2%) and high grade (46.7%) compared on low grade (40.0%). Also, it is known that there was a significant relationship between E-Cadherin expression and incidence of metastasis (p <0.001). In this study, the percentage of subjects with M1 was significantly higher in negative expression (91.3%) than in positive expression (26.1%). Conclussion : there was a significant relationship between decreased expression of E-Cadherin and incidence of distant metastasis in patients with breast cancer. However, there was no correlation between HER2 overexpression and the occurrence of distant metastasis in breast cancer patients, and there was no relationship between E-cadherin expression and HER2 expression.
